BUENOS AIRES 5411 GUIDE

Buenos Aires best tango shows information

If there’s one thing Buenos Aires isn’t short of it’s tango shows. The best known are the expensive, tourist-oriented spectacles that are very entertaining and awe-inspiring...

Tango Shows in Buenos Aires: The travelers that arrive in Buenos Aires don't resign with the classic lists of streets and monuments, and they wander in the search of something so elusive as the "authentic tango", as if it was an illusion drawn in each corner.

Where is the tango? Those that come for the first time and the own ones Buenos Aires, sometimes little familiarized with their music, they will meet with a complex map and that it changes to each instant. Tango orchestras, musicians and tango dancers circulate every night for different places: from mounted shows for tourists, until small tanguerías to those that people arrive for the music's pleasure, happening, of course, for the milongas, hidden during decades, and today in fashion in almost all the Buenos Aires neighborhoods.

What continues, then, is the sketch of one of the infinites possible tango journeys in Buenos Aires.

Choose the best tango show in Buenos Aires is a difficult task but a couple that we recommend are El Viejo Almacén
or Piazzolla Tango. The showplace for the latter is located in a gorgeous arcade.

EL VIEJO ALMACEN

The place is located at Balcarce & Av Independencia; show from US$90, show & dinner from US$140) One of Buenos Aires’ longest-running shows (since 1969), this venue is a charming old building from the 1800s. A good dinner is served at a multi-story restaurant in the main building, then everyone heads across the street to the small theater with intimate stage. The show starts with a quick movie about the tango show’s history, then moves on to the highly athletic dancers with plenty of glitz. One highlight is the exceptionally good folklore segment.
